At least 2 dead in Minneapolis office shooting

By NBC News staff

Two people were killed and at least three others wounded Thursday in a workplace shooting at a sign company in Minneapolis, according to local news reports. The gunman, an employee who had fired earlier in the day, was among the dead, Fox9 reported.

Police arrived at the Accent Signage Systems Inc. on Chestnut Ave. West in the Bry Mawr area at approximately 4:45 p.m. to find the door propped open and several shooting victims inside, the station reported.

It quoted an unidentified high-ranking law enforcement source as saying that the gunman returned to the office after being terminated earlier in the day. The source also told Fox9 that the gunman, whose body was found in the basement, may have been targeting specific employees.

Fox9 said three shooting victims were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in critical condition. The Associated Press said that four people were wounded, three of them critically.

Accent Signage Systems' website says it "is a leader in the interior signage industry specializing in custom (Americans With Disabilties Act)-compliant interior signage, and serving major sign manufacturers worldwide."
